PCT Debts

PCT overspending sparks fresh efficiency fears

Just a note of a headline that we will see repeated over the next two years. Health Service Journal report that 25 PCTs have overspent their budget for the current financial year by an aggregated value of £145m. Remember that when GP consortia take over the NHS budget in April 2013 they will take over any debts generated by PCTs between April 2011 and March 2013.

After April 2013 I expect a different headline, the sentiment will be the same, but it will have the word PCT replaced with GP.
